Unlike today’s Gold medals the athletes in ancient Greece won a wreath called an Athlon which patio retractable awnings were made of olive leaves and placed around their neck, They recently discovered this around , I have also been reading ppi claims that a lot of the women of the time would start wearing to look prettier for the men that are in the events The ancient Greeks were always at ppi war with each other. The Olympics were held in such high regard that soldiers from warring factions were allowed to leave said war and travel to payment protection insurance the Olympics to compete. It was an honour to compete and the best athletes from each army were sent to compete fairly in this sporting event. It was seen as a great honour to represent ones army at and to pay respect to the gods Zeus and Hera. War would stop for a period before and after the Olympics to make sure the event was properly given the respect it deserved. I read somewhere that the greeks and contenders used to take to drop some extra weight before their events to give them an edge  Many of today’s well known sports were included in the ancient Greek Olympics. For quite some time now, there has been a big debate about whether or not college athletes should be paid. Some people believe that a scholarship should be payment enough. After all, a scholarship can be easily worth ,000 – ,000 or more per year, plus a career after college that can be worth a million dollars over a lifetime. Additionally, student athletes receive all kinds of perks while they are in college, like staying at fancy hotels, being seen on national tv, and all of the notoriety that goes with being a stare athlete. Its hard to put a price tag on all of that. However, considering the fact that certain college sports generate millions of dollars for college athletic programs, many people believe the athletes are being used. If the average football scholarship is worth ,000 per year, yet the university gains ,000 per year in revenue per scholarship player (please note that this figure is just an estimate – the actual number may actually be higher), the university will profit ,000 per year, per scholarship player, or 0,000 over a four year period. It is very difficult to put a numeric value on exactly how much an athlete is worth to a college. A star quarterback will not only help sell tickets, but will bring in plenty of merchandise sales as well. The NCCA won’t allow the universities to sell a college football jersey with a player’s name on it, but they will sell the jersey with the player’s number on it, which is easily recognizable in local, and sometimes national markets. The major colleges earn enormous sums of money on this kind of merchandise alone, yet the student athlete who’s number is being used to sell merchandise will not see one dime of the profits. To say that the student athlete isn’t being exploited in this situation is an understatement. It goes way beyond that. College athletic programs rake in millions from television and advertising contracts. They also bring in millions of dollars of donations from sports boosters. Yes, salaries need to be paid to athletic directors and coaches, not to mention travel and other costs for the student athletes, and it is great that major college football and basketball programs help fund non-revenue athletic programs. However, the fact of the matter is that, compared to the amount of revenue that student athletes generate for their colleges, what they receive in return is very small. Here’s where it gets really interesting. An athlete can be “disciplined” for selling their tickets to a fan on game day, yet how much money do the directors of the NCAA earn as a result of the efforts of the student athletes? The reality is that the college athletes quite literally pay for a large portion of the salaries of every person employed by the NCAA. If an executive from the NCAA is able to drive a Mercedes, he can thank a star quarterback or running back for that, and perhaps even several walk ons. So here is the point: if the NCAA, coaches, and athletic directors can earn huge sums of money from the student athletes, shouldn’t student athletes have a piece of the pie too? This isn’t to say that college athletes should get paid large amounts of money, but it would definitely be nice if their scholarships would pay them a little extra to go out for pizza every once and a while, or buy some nice clothes – just a little extra spending cash as a way of saying “thanks” for their efforts. If for some reason college athletes could be paid, that opens up a whole new can of worms. All of the athletes on a football team with 125 players work very hard in practice, but only 11can start on offense and defense – do you only pay the starters?. Additionally, if you were to pay more to the star quarterback than you do for an “ok” receiver, you are going to run into a lot of other problems. Having said this, the first thing you want to avoid with paying college athletes is student athletes squabbling how much money they earn or should earn, which happens frequently in the NFL. The second thing you want to avoid is an uneven playing field. While some colleges at the division I level could afford to pay athletes, many simply don’t bring in enough revenue. If a student athlete knows he can earn more at USC than he will if he plays for his state university, then the playing field becomes more uneven than it already is. Athletes would almost always choose the “money schools” over other colleges. Technically, this happens today more than people realize, because colleges with the most tradition, best coaches, and the best records are usually the colleges with the most money…but, if one college could afford to pay more to athletes than other colleges, the playing field would be even more uneven. If you are going to start paying athletes, all of the athletes need to be paid the same amount of money, and all of the colleges would need to have the same amount of money to pay their athletes with, which could be pre-determined by the NCAA. Even if this amount was a small amount like ,000 PER YEAR, per player (which totals (5,000 per year for a college football team with 125 players), paid every month during the school year, it would be a lot more fair to the student athletes…and most colleges at the Division I level could certainly afford it. For the few colleges that couldn’t afford it, the NCAA could always put up the extra money out of the millions it generates from the bowl game. Another alternative would be to cut the salaries of every executive of the NCAA who has gotten rich off of NCAA athletics by 25%- and give the difference to the athletes… Most of this article focused on college football programs. The revenues that are generated from basketball programs are even more staggering, considering that the teams, are smaller, the travel expenses are less expensive, and that fewer scholarships need to be handed out, making the profits that the NCAA earns from college basketball programs even more staggering.

Britain’s Financial Times reported that the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games corporate sponsorship is expected to more than one billion U.S. dollars, a record, which further confirmed that China’s trade and investment, attracting new market. This, the newspaper quoted Chairman of the IOC Marketing Commission Gerhard? Heiberg? GerhardHeiberg? Of expression, said, “reached 1 billion figure is absolutely not a problem” “Beijing will break all records (sessions Olympic corporate sponsorship amount). ” Are anonymous evaluation of this message to the industry, said one billion U.S. dollars of this figure is not the point, is inevitable to break the record. This set of figures is a reflection of the current highly active in the Chinese domestic market economy and are expected. He said, according to the current situation of view, some domestic enterprises to sponsor the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has even exceeded the amount of TOP sponsors, which in previous sessions of the Olympic TOP program is unprecedented. “Record huge sponsorship” Advertisers in the Olympics, TOP is no longer a “maximum” synonymous. Beijing Olympics because of the enthusiasm of domestic sponsors always continue. 3 2004 26, many Chinese remember the days of sponsorship are?? Lenovo signed on as a TOP Sponsor of the International Olympic Committee’s TOP the list of first place with Chinese brands. Domestic small and medium enterprises have begun to share the Olympic feast. From September 1, 2003 the Chinese Olympic Committee announced the official launch of marketing programs, to September 10 at the Beijing Olympic site Cobo signed, thousands of business representatives around the country gathered in Beijing in early autumn. Is even more shocking is that in the 2008 Beijing Olympic TOP sponsorship of up to 65 million U.S. dollars before the threshold has been doubt whether it can afford to pay some of the domestic sponsorship, even than the quoted TOP sponsor of the higher price tag to compete for domestic core sponsor of Beijing Olympic qualification. Sponsor of the Beijing Olympic Games Chinese enthusiasm for investment, so the industry may be raised on the amount of the Organizing Committee unanimously made the optimistic estimate. He Jingxian Lenovo to become the IOC TOP sponsor of the core of advisers, fund-raising on the Beijing Olympics, she told reporters the phone optimistic: “Beijing Olympics to reach one billion U.S. dollars of this figure, from the present circumstances view is quite optimistic. ” He Jingxian had previously written that, if ignored any unexpected adverse factors (such as economic recession or the recurrence of SARS outbreak), at the end of 2005, Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee will have more than 40 sponsors (including the International Olympic Committee 11 TOP sponsors), they will bring more than one billion U.S. dollars organizing committee’s marketing income. And why domestic firms are willing to go beyond the price for TOP sponsors to participate in the core sponsor of Beijing Olympic competition? Degree of joint sports and cultural industries sector too (TIDO) Zhu Xiaoming, president of the view that the International Olympic Committee that with the TOP is deliberately creating a restricted, exclusive list of the co-operation?? Places are limited, monopoly industries can not enter, so, although the need for access to TOP brand research, but is not to say that the most money into the TOP business, the same token, the richest companies may not be able to enter the TOP. Lenovo’s entry is from IBM’s initiative to withdraw from, this is an opportunity. Moreover, TOP is a list of global brands, the Chinese enterprises to carry out their own little world markets, with its publicity in the international monopolistic position, it is better to strengthen the competitiveness of the local, which has positioned itself with the business relationship. It is noteworthy that, as a key partner of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, was excluded TOP industry giants have shot monopoly, China National Petroleum, China Mobile and so on large state-owned enterprises, in itself has a stronger financial position, and its positioning itself more point to China, to pay this cost, obviously not difficult. 17 afternoon, a press contact with the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, but the Olympic Committee refused to 1 billion U.S. dollars on the Financial Times to assess the figures, saying the amount of domestic sponsorship are not included in the specific statistics. Government appeal Regardless of whether the Beijing Olympic final to raise 1 billion U.S. dollars, the Beijing Olympics great charm of Chinese enterprises is now acknowledged. A source disclosed that the present situation, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, national partners need to pay expensive than the TOP sponsors least about 20 million U.S. dollars higher, and this figure could change to adjust. Extraordinary appeal to the Beijing Olympics, an official could not help lamenting the International Olympic Committee, BOCOG past Olympic marketing is often the initiative to invite, but this time, companies have become so active. However, TOP program will sponsor its short-listed to provide almost all the countries in the global marketing rights, but only in China, Beijing Olympic marketing rights. In accordance with the data, the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games sponsorship program provides benefits to sponsors include: use of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee, the emblem and title for advertising and marketing activities; have a specific product, service categories the exclusive rights; get Olympic reception rights, including accommodation during the Olympic Games, certificates, tickets for opening and closing ceremonies and competitions, use sponsor reception centers; and so on. However, according to analysis, if the sponsor’s investment as a rational behavior, then these benefits is not sufficient to explain the Beijing Olympic Games sponsor unusually attractive. What makes Chinese companies so keen to sponsor the Beijing Olympics? Was thus the emergence of this situation that the Chinese enterprises are facing a market economy, and the success of Beijing’s National Complex of the dual background of “non-rational choice.” But savvy business owners are hard to accept this assessment. Olympic Games have long been concerned about the economy entrepreneurs in the private occasions that the Government’s ring more attractive than the Olympic rings. In his view, the history of the Olympics a century, few government or nation can be the same as the input and the importance of China, the government and the nation’s Olympic Complex, which makes the market and brand the Beijing Olympics, has become even than the Olympic Games more complex view of value. With other Olympic events is different is that the core of the Beijing Olympic Sponsor

Professionals who practice sports medicine help athletes who sustain injuries. The doctors treat athletes who have had concussions, sprains, cramps, and shin splints. Although some of these injuries are minor, they can be very painful and cause athletes to lose time playing. In the case of professional athletes, this can cause them to lose money. Sometimes the athletes continue to play on their injured limbs, and this can make the injury worse. A good doctor who practices sports medicine can also give the athlete techniques that can be used to help prevent injuries. These techniques can help the athlete play longer without experiencing pain or having to spend time away from the game. If the athlete is injured the physician can sometimes provide treatments to help the athlete to play sooner. The athlete may be asked to return to scheduled examinations and follow-ups to make sure that the injury is healing properly. Sometimes sports medicine professionals are on hand to provide first aid treatment during a sport. The doctor can provide emergency treatment if necessary. These professionals are a necessary part of the athletic industry. They help keep athletes safe. The medical personnel may also work with trainers to help athletes prevent injuries during practices. Athletes who have been injured, but who are undergoing rehabilitative treatments can have support from a combination of trainers and physicians. Rehabilitation may consist of walking on a treadmill, swimming, or participating in stretching activities. Although it may be painful to exercise or participate in rehabilitative treatment, the physician must convince the athlete to work through the pain. The doctors who practice sports medicine may also work with other medical personnel to help the athlete. Athletes may receive either outpatient treatment or those with certain injuries, usually to the knee, may require reconstructive surgery. In these cases, the patient would obviously be referred to a surgeon. Most times, athletes who need reconstructive surgery seek the most minimally invasive procedures possible. Minimally invasive surgery can assist the athlete in being able to resume their normal day-to-day activities sooner. Some athletes are able to compete in less time than if they have had other more invasive procedures. Professionals who practice in this field participate in continuing education programs. They are constantly seeking new methods to help their patients heal quicker and alleviate discomfort associated with their injuries. Many of the professionals are members of professional associations that provide networking activities and opportunities to learn about the latest technology and practices to speed the healing process. Of course, these physicians do not confine their work to assisting athletes who are on professional teams. They work with children who may have been injured while playing. They may also assist people who are on college teams or adults who are on hobby teams. People who have injured themselves by participating in athletic activities such as running a marathon, or playing a volleyball game with friends, may also choose to receive services from these doctors.

There is nothing more patriotic in every country in the World than the Olympic Games. To fly your country’s flag, hear your national anthem and stand for that one moment in solidarity with the rich, the poor, the middle class. Everyone can agree what a “true” hero looks like. Its the athlete that overcomes insurmountable obstacles with little fanfare, little media attention, little financial backing. And that is when the magic hits. The Olympics spurs on dreamers. Once in a life time epic performances. Things that could never be predicted. NBC makes it into a moment in time for eternity and the viewing public lap it up like desert dwellers at a water station. What so few people understand or even care to ask the question… How do Olympic athletes get to the Games? Not physically. Not mentally. But financially. I would say more than 80 percent of you would say “the government” or “the Olympic committee” pays the athletes. That is absolutely not true in the first case and the trickle down economics of the Olympic movement doesn’t work and never will! For a majority of the Olympic athletes who will compete in London 2012, they are “PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES”. Yes, i know that sounds remarkable. But it is true. Athletes can have sponsors, supporters and make a living. Some even millions of dollars. Many of mine have. Not all of them. Ever sport in the Olympics is administered by a National Governing Body (NGB). These “non profits” and i say that lightly, are responsible for the youth and the elite Olympic level athletes which creates an inherent conflict of interest. Think of Little League Baseball running MLB. Well, in the Olympics that is exactly how its done and its WRONG! Set up 2 independent groups with their own funding structures. The co mingling of funds at this level should generate automatic regulatory and congressional oversight. Here is the truth… The Olympics are a Government approved Monopoly. The size and scope that has not been seen in a Century! The Olympics take no Government funding yet are protected by archaic rules and regulations that protect the Olympic committee from anti trust laws and keeps the athletes completely powerless. Can you imagine the NFL, MLB or NBA without a players union? Well, the Olympic committee skates under this because the athletes are all considered independent contractors. Its a total smoke screen. Did you know that when an athlete makes the US Olympic team, they have to sign a Code Of Conduct which most of us would have no problems with. No alcohol, no bad activities in the Olympic village, etc. But now with the protection of the Government, the Olympic committee owns outright exclusivity from athlete’s sponsors, you know the one’s footing the bill for their training, cant use the picture image and likeness of their endorsed athlete for 1 week before the Olympics, the 2 weeks of the Olympics and a week after. Are you kidding me??? That is like telling any non NASCAR sponsor that they were not allowed to buy tv time, run print and viral ads or promotions during the time frame before, during and after the Daytona 500. There would be riots in the streets! But because so few people know about this hidden shell Game of financing athletes and control over sponsor rights, it gets a pass by the national media plus NBC would never kill the golden goose! So it lyes dormant. No one will discuss it. No one will stand shoulder to shoulder with the athletes and say enough is enough. Time to get rid of the Ted Stevens Amateur sports act which keeps Olympic athletes as indentured servants to the Olympic committee. Its time for one congressman/woman that has the guts to look at these athletes as worthy representatives of the US around the world and they shouldn’t be dealing with 3rd world economic policies for funding a dream that we as Americans so richly deserve. I hope it wont take a terrible Olympics with Chinese and others on the top of the medal stands to awaken fans and foes alike that the time has come to protect the athletes and help them achieve all of our dreams! We don’t want an Athlete Tarp Fund, but what we do want is for someone of power and authority to stop the athletes from being pushed around. They are one of our greatest natural resources like corn, cotton and gold! Isnt it time for all of us citizens to stand up for the athletes that we will give a standing ovation to in August 2012 in London so they can live the American Dream that we all share from hard work and having the courage to try something no one believed they could achieve. Think about it. We don’t want your money. We want your support! All it will take is one Congressman willing to sit down with enough athletes to get a consensus that the time is right for the system to change and America can put its athletes on the top of the podium for decades to come. But don’t allow our Olympic legacy to be diminished by bureaucrats in Colorado Springs that answer to their hand picked Board.

NBA’s Top 10 Blogs Released by Sports Media Challenge’s Sports Blog Index

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) April 27, 2007

With the NBA Playoffs underway and teams battling for the chance to be crowned league champions, Sports Media Challenge today announces the top 10 NBA basketball blogs in the official Sports Blog Index.™ The SBI is the first ever standard measurement to identify the most influential blogs across all sports and in each major sports category and aims to be a helpful tool to determine where the most passionate fans go on the Internet and which blogs carry the most weight. Last month, the Sports Blog Index debuted the Top 10 Baseball blogs to compliment their general index of most influential sports blogs.

Recently, Sports Media Challenge’s Sports Blog Index debuted in the SportsBusiness Daily and can be seen in the Sports Media section, accompanying the extremely popular Blog Hound feature. Every day, the Sports Blog Index takes a snapshot of the blogosphere’s current sentiment regarding noteworthy news item. That graphical snapshot is then coupled with expert analysis and quotes from the blogs themselves to provide the reader with a thorough understanding of the current online word of mouth regarding the topic.

Sports Business Journal/SportsBusiness Daily Executive Editor Abraham Madkour announced that “The Sports Blog Index™ is gaining in popularity since its launch and will be available to SportsBusiness Daily and SportsBusiness Journal subscribers and at http://www.sportsmediachallenge.com .”

With this proliferation of blogs dedicated to all things sports, SMC identified the need to establish an Index to determine where fans and critics go online to feed their insatiable hunger for information. The giant sports networks bring us the facts, but SMC is determining where the best virtual water cooler conversations are taking place and where fans and critics congregate to debate the hottest issues.

“Whether you’re a sponsor, league, team or media outlet, blogs and other fan-generated media™ must be on your watch-list because of their capacity to drive the discussion to the forefront of public consciousness,” said Sports Media Challenge President Kathleen Hessert. “Understanding the issues that fans are listening and reacting to, can provide invaluable insight for brands vying for the minds, hearts and wallets of sports fans. With over 54 million Americans visiting blogs in 2006, they’re often more commonplace to read than newspapers and magazines, especially with the coveted young male audience.” Fan-generated media including blogs, forums, and social networking sites have become the equivalent of ‘main street’ online.

The Index will be regularly updated to ensure that the listings reflect those blogs that fans count on most for their online word of mouth. Following is the month’s top 10 NBA related blogs:

1.TrueHoop         (truhoop.com)

2.YAYsports! NBA    (yaysports.com/nba)

3.Celtics Blog     (celticsblog.com/)

4.Sonics Central    (sonicscentral.com/blog/)

5.Golden State of Mind (goldenstateofmind.com)

6.Need 4 Sheed     (need4sheed.com)

7.Free Darko        (freedarko.com)

8.Blazers Edge     (blazersedge.com)

9.Detroit Bad Boys (detroitbadboys.com)

10.HoopsAddict.com (hoopsaddict.com/)
In February 2007, TrueHoop was acquired by ESPN and has left the format fundamentally unchanged.

Active communities are measured by comments directed at individual posts. The top blog communities average dozens of comments per post.

In conjunction with the top blogs for an individual sport, SMC has identified the top five subjects discussed on blogs in the Index featured every Monday in the Daily which we will be glad to provide to you via e-mail. Send your request to tips @sportsmediachallenge.com. Over the next few months, SMC will be releasing Top Ten blog lists for NASCAR, Golf, Olympics, Action Sports, NCAA Football, NHL and the NFL.

There are three criteria that Sports Media Challenge use to rank blogs for the top 10 – Influence, Fan Engagement and Quality. These criteria combine quantitative aspects, including the number of incoming links, number of fan comments as well as qualitative measurement by Sports Media Challenge analysts.

Buzz Manager, a staple service of SMC, is the proprietary search engine that mines, monitors and analyzes online content and helps rank blogs in the Sports Blog Index. Buzz Manager tracks and measures the online word-of-mouth and mainstream media exposure of brands operating in the sports, entertainment and lifestyle markets. A combination of proprietary technology and human analysis is used to determine a brand’s awareness and fan perception. The Sports Blog Index uses the Buzz Manager tracking software to determine ratings for the thousands of sports blogs tracked. Beyond blogs, Buzz Manager also monitors trends on other forms of fan-generated media™ (FGM) including message boards, MySpace and YouTube sites and other social networks. We can measure the volume, intensity and direction of influential fan sentiment real time.

We urge fans and media to send us links to sports blogs they think should contend for a top 10 spot on the Index. We will put them on our Watch List and it will be added to our Buzz Manager search engine. Even if a blog focuses on one sport or team, please send them along because, as you see above with the basketball specific list, we will release a sport specific blog Index each month of the year. You may send these to tips @sportsmediachallenge.com.

BellasPainRelief.com Announces Coverage of “Bella’s Hot/Cold Pain Relief Pack” for Dogs Through Embrace Pet Insurance

Allentown, NJ (PRWEB) January 29, 2008

Allentown, NJ based canine pain relief and mobility company, BellasPainRelief.com, has announced their Bella Packs are now a reimbursable item for Embrace Pet Insurance policy holders.

“We are getting an overwhelmingly great response from both the veterinary market, as well as the consumer market, when we show up with our Bella Packs,” says Ronnie Daldos, CEO of BellasPainRelief.com. “Now, pet owners whose pet is covered by an Embrace policy with the RX coverage can get much of the cost of their Bella Pack reimbursed, as long as it is purchased in conjunction with a covered illness or injury.”

So what makes this news so exciting? Now pet owners facing surgery for their pets have a product they can purchase that will actually help accelerate their pet’s recovery. After surgery, especially ACL/Cruciate or hip surgery, it is proven that those areas heal quicker when post-surgical swelling is minimized. The Bella Packs is the only product on the market that actually stay’s flexible when frozen and can wrap around a knee or hip and be securely attached.

In addition to being effective for post-surgical recovery, the Bella Pack is also great for providing pain relief for canine arthritis and hip dysplasia.

The Bella Pack is super safe, extremely versatile and has just received the “Animal Wellness Magazine” seal of approval! The gel bag insert is made of a totally non-toxic glycerin based gel that stays pliable when frozen, so it forms nicely around the injured area. The bag can also be put into the microwave for applications that require moist heat. The product is reusable and can be stored in the freezer for emergency cold applications for your pet.

The gel bag sits inside a soft outer pouch that has the “Bella” logo. It has two elastic straps with Velcro ends that adhere to anywhere on the outside of the pack, allowing you to easily attach the pack to your dogs shoulder, hip, back, knee, etc. The inner gel bag can easily be removed if you want to throw the outside cover into the wash.

“We are finding so many applications for the Bella Pack,” says Ms. Daldos. “Areas like canine post surgical recovery, canine pain management for arthritis and hip dysplasia, veterinary practices focusing on holistic treatments, canine rehabilitation, canine chiropractic and therapeutic massage and pain relief for sporting injuries of canine athletes participating in agility and flyball.” The list just keeps growing.

Why Partner with Embrace Pet Insurance?

“I came across Embrace Pet Insurance when looking for a pet insurance policy for Hope, my three legged Great Dane,” say Ms. Daldos. “Having spent over $ 10,000 on Bella’s care throughout her short life, my biggest concern was to find a policy that covered what most policy’s don’t, hereditary conditions such as hip dysplasia, as well as alternative treatments such as acupuncture and homeopathy. I wanted the flexibility of being able to see my own vet or choose the best specialists and hospitals, without worrying if they are covered. Also, being a multi-dog household, I wanted a policy that was affordable so I could have the money to cover for all my dogs.”

“Embrace Pet Insurance blew me away,” says Ms. Daldos. “It met all my needs. It allowed me to customize my policy to help keep my annual costs low. I was able to create a policy that gave me $ 10,000 annual coverage, $ 500 deductible, 35% co-pay, RX coverage for medications (also covers incidentals like e-collars, the Bella Pack, etc…) and continuing coverage for longer term illnesses.” (You can choose a lower deductible or co-pay, depending on what your insurance needs are, it’s extremely flexible.

“I was able to receive all this coverage for a premium under $ 250 annually,” says Ms. Daldos. Embrace also offers discounts if you have a service dog or if your dog is micro chipped.

You can even get an additional 5% off of your policy if you purchase it through here: http://www.EmbracePetInsurance.com/Bellas.

“Embrace does not cover routine care,” says Ms. Daldos, “but as a pet owner, to me that is an expected cost and I did not want to pay a higher premium, just to get it back for routine care. I just wanted coverage for those unexpected injuries or illnesses that can cost thousands of dollars or worse, the life of my pet if I don’t have the financial means to pay for necessary tests or treatments.”

See why Embrace Pet Insurance is rated 9.17 out of 10 at http://www.petinsurancereview.com, an independent website providing information on pet insurance benefits, pricing and customer reviews, to help pet owners make informed decisions.

Runners Get a Head Start with Early Registration

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2008

The days are getting longer and the nights are getting shorter, and that means it’s time to start training for the 97th annual ING Bay to Breakers 12K. This world-famous footrace, a celebration of San Francisco’s spirit, enthusiasm and determination, invites runners of all ages, backgrounds and levels of athletic ability to REGISTER NOW by visiting http://www.ingbaytobreakers.com.

“We encourage all participants — whether you’re veterans or newcomers, to take advantage of early registration. We offer great discounts if you sign up for the race before May,” said Angela Fang, general manager of ING Bay to Breakers.

NEW THIS YEAR:

This year, ING Bay to Breakers 12K will offer a collectible timing chip to continue the countdown to its 100th birthday in 2011. The 2008 chip is the second in a series of five chips celebrating icons along the race course, and features San Francisco’s very own “Painted Ladies,” a row of Victorian homes on Steiner Street that is one of the city’s most famous scenic landmarks. Runners and walkers pass the “Ladies” as they head up the race course’s challenging Hayes Street Hill. The chip, worn on the outer laces of the shoe, records each individual’s time as they cross the start line and then the finish line. In addition, all registered runners can access an online finisher’s certificate the day after the race.

While ING Bay to Breakers has always been dedicated to a fun, safe and responsible race, this year will also focus on the event’s push to be “Clean & Green”. Revelers and runners are encouraged not only to celebrate this San Francisco annual race but to respect the environment by being responsible with their bottles, cans and other trash.

GREATER BODY EXPO MAKES A MOVE

The ING Greater Body Expo kicks off the Bay to Breakers weekend festivities starting Friday, May 16, at a new location — Justin Herman Plaza in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District. Located just across the Embarcadero from the Ferry Building, the ING Greater Body Expo is the one-stop shop for all of your race needs. Featuring dozens of exhibitors, displays, free samples, prizes and great bargains on apparel and fitness gear, the Expo is FREE and open to the public. Hours are Friday, May 16, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 17, from 9 am to 7 pm.

The Expo is the last chance to register for the race. Individuals who are already registered can pick up their race packets and timing chips there as well. Race staff will be on-hand to assist with customer service solutions and distribute participant t-shirts.

FOOTSTOCK FESTIVAL

On race day, Sunday, May 20 at 8 a.m., runners will gather to begin the race at the intersection of Howard and Main Street. Runners will finish the course on the Great Highway at Ocean Beach. Immediately following the run, the annual ING Footstock Festival at the Park Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park will feature musical entertainment, an awards ceremony, a costume contest, a food marketplace and an opportunity to rendezvous and celebrate with family and friends. Admission to Footstock is free and open to the public.

Release of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM and Direct Marketing Solutions to Redefine Nonprofit Information Technology

Charleston, S.C. (Vocus) May 4, 2007

Blackbaud, Inc.’s (NASDAQ: BLKB) Chief Executive Officer Marc Chardon announced today that the company has released its eagerly awaited technology platform, code-named Infinity, along with two new solutions that will enable the world’s largest nonprofits to optimize their information management. Released to selected customers in March, Blackbaud Direct Marketing™ (formerly code-named “Bullseye”) and Blackbaud Enterprise CRM™ (formerly code-named “Galileo”) combine the strength of the company’s extensive knowledge of the nonprofit sector with its new next-generation technology platform.

“For more than a quarter century, Blackbaud’s sole focus has been on developing the best in nonprofit IT solutions– enabling organizations to improve their efficiency, their relationships with their constituents, and their ability to raise mission-critical funds,” said Chardon. “For the past two years, Blackbaud’s development team has been designing and building a technology platform that will not only support this new breed of enterprise-level solutions but that will also enhance the performance of existing products. Hallmarks of the new platform include scalability, standards-based technology and new levels in IT security.

“The unveiling of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM and Blackbaud Direct Marketing marks a milestone in our ability to provide flexible, extensible solutions that bring large-scale and distributed nonprofit organizations closer to their constituents, enabling them to better fulfill their missions. Moreover, it extends our capability to support the current needs and future growth of the largest nonprofit organizations throughout the world.”

Blackbaud Enterprise CRM is a suite of solutions that makes up a centralized system of record for all interactions and that provides a 360 degree view of the constituent, which can be seen by all of a nonprofit’s organizational elements. Blackbaud Direct Marketing, which ties in to the company’s well-established Raiser’s Edge product, and which can be utilized as a part of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM, helps nonprofits manage complex, multi-channel direct marketing campaigns, from list segmentations to reporting, enabling them to save time and money and achieve more control over their total constituent experience.

Among early adopters of the new offerings include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), two large state university organizations and a major healthcare system. Celebrating its 40th anniversary of working to save a national treasure, CBF has 190,000 members and relies on its large direct marketing program to maintain support, to encourage advocacy, to establish volunteer restoration programs, and to educate students, teachers and its constituency about events and issues affecting the Chesapeake Bay. The Foundation will use Blackbaud Direct Marketing to manage numerous concurrent projects and position itself for future growth.

“We needed a solution that would give us greater control of our direct marketing and fundraising by bringing the different pieces of our programs together, while providing staff access to the information they need to make strategic decisions,” said Michael Sola, CBF’s Director of Information Technology Services. “Expanding our partnership with Blackbaud in using this exciting Blackbaud Direct Marketing solution will take our program to the next level — having all our marketing functions in the same place will greatly enhance our ability to plan, and then evaluate success.”
